Director Robert Parker, sr.

Robert Parker was a Public Servant and Law Enforcement Executive.  On April 1, 2004, Parker was appointed to lead the Miami-Dade Police Department. This is an achievement of significant accomplishment in that Parker was well prepared to lead the Department which is the largest in the Southeastern United States and the 8th largest in the country.

Director Parker’s career span well over 33 distinguished years.  During that time, he led several major divisions of the Miami-Dade Police Department including Division Chief of North Operations, Special Investigation Division, Major in charge of a District Command, Police Bureau Commander in charge of the Economic Crimes, Strategic Investigations Bureau and more.

Distinguished

Upon retirement (November 1, 2009) Parker became a distinguished consultant with the Chicago based Hillard Heintz Consultants as a Consulting Senior Leadership Council on Advancing Excellence in Policing and Public Safety. He also remained heavily involved with the 5000 Role Model of Excellence Project of Miami Dade County Schools.

Former professional affiliations included the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, International Association Chiefs of Police (IACP), FBI National Executive Institute, FBI National Academy, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives(NOBLE), Florida Chiefs of Police Association, Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police, 5000 Role Models and the Spirit of Christ Ministries, Inc., Member of the 200 Club (Miami). Moreover, he has received many commendations and awards for his service and dedication to our community and the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Dedicated Family Man

Parker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Barry University and a Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University.  He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI National Executive Institute at Quantico, Virginia.  Additionally, Parker has honorably served in the United States Army.

Director Robert Parker was married to Veronica Buie Parker (retired Lieutenant from the Miami-Dade Police Department) for 45 years. Together they have three children, Kalika, Robert, Jr., and Kyron all who are Law Enforcement Professionals.
